1. Campfire – Even if you aren’t going camping, enjoy a campfire in your backyard or at the beach.
2. Concerts – SLO County boasts scads of free concerts this summer. Here’s a list.
3. Compare and contrast – Watch a movie version of a book your family has read, then discuss the differences and similarities. (Perhaps Tom Sawyer, Little Women, or Sherlock Holmes…?)
4. Climb a tree
5. Creek – Play in the creek in downtown SLO.
6. Cooking – Take the night off from making dinner and let the kids do the cooking! Here are 9 Recipes Kids Can Make from Real Simple.

Colors: Why Isn't the Sky Blue? – This podcast is about the way that colors work (which is how we ended our science cycle this past year). It starts with Newton and ends with an analysis of Homer's The Illiad & The Odyssey (part of our literature cycle next year!). Sounds like a fantastic SLOCA summer listen!
