Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Free Friday: March 24, 2017

Happy Friday, one and all! We’ve completed our first week of Trimester 3 and we are off and running! In the spirit of “Free Friday,” let’s renew our determination to keep part of our weekend free from electronics and devices, to focus on family time and play. The sunlight lasts longer in the evenings now, so get out and enjoy it together! 

As you head into the weekend, we have a little more student work to share: Mr. Kinnear’s middle school art classes made books (or “codexes”) last trimester, and he was so pleased with how they turned out! He sent in photos to show them off – see above and here are a few more:

One last time, here’s an upcoming performance which several SLOCA students are a part of:

Ballet Theatre – San Luis Obispo Youth Performance Showcase – Kate Fischer (Sophomore), Violet Talley (LMS, Track A), and Catherine Walz (Primary, Track A) are performing in this showcase on March 26 (6 pm) and 27 (3 pm). Tickets can be purchased on the bt-slo.org website.
