Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

SLOCA Graduate Now a College Graduate!

It’s here! The official last last day of school – Track A was yesterday, Track B is today – so, applause, applause! We did it!

As we think of our students who are promoting from 8th grade, and graduating from high school, we thought it would be fun to check in with our very first high school graduates from 2013 (there were 2 that year), to see what they are up to now. We were able to track down one of them – Caroline Rein. And she’s graduating from Cal Poly this year!

Caroline is graduating with honors, with a Major in Theater Arts and Minor in Music. Her focus in theater is costume design and she designed the costumes for the last show at Cal Poly. She was also awarded the College of Liberal Arts Senior Recognition Award for Service to the Community.

Next up for Caroline is an internship at PCPA (Pacific Conservatory Theater) in Costumes. Congratulations, Caroline! We are so proud of you and are confident that marvelous adventures await you in this next stage of life.

As for our other very first SLOCA High School graduate, Taylor Sanders, our last report is that she is currently studying to become a Physicians Assistant at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. She will be graduating next year!

It's exciting to start to see our SLOCA kids graduate college or complete other higher learning, and make their way in life. Knowing the exceptional foundation and excellent education they've received, we believe these thoughtful young adults will make a difference in their communities and in our world. SLOCA Alumni out there, we hope you'll keep in touch!

Speaking of graduates, we hope to see SLOCA families at our High School Graduation tonight at 6:30 pm at Grace Church in SLO to celebrate this year’s SLOCA High School graduates!
