Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Happy History Day, SLOCA families! We are excited to get the games underway for our Ancient Olympics history event this afternoon. Here are some last-minute tutorials if you’re trying to figure out how to get those togas tied! Keep in mind that our kids will be active, so you may want to go for a shorter toga length, with a t-shirt and shorts/pants underneath, to allow for easy movement.

First, there are these great resources, which were included in the packet of info you received:

How to make a t-shirt toga

How to make a pillowcase toga (but don’t wear sandals – athletic shoes for all students, please!)

3 ways to make a bedsheet toga

If you like quick video tutorials, here’s one that’s easy to follow and works for girls or boys. No need to use the belt (or headband) if you prefer not to:

See you at the games!
