Learning Levels

At SLO Classical Academy, our learning levels are a bit different than what you'll find at other schools (but that probably won't come as a surprise!) and those levels are determined by where a student is in their progression through the trivium.

While our Little Wonders (Preschool, Jr. Kindergarten, and Kindergarten) levels do not officially fall into the grammar stage of Classical Education, we know that these years are essential to introducing and preparing them for their educational journey, and so we say that these children are in the "pre-grammar stage."   The grammar stage begins with our Primary (1st and 2nd grade) students and continues into the Intermediate years (3rd and 4th grade).  Students transition into the "logic stage" in Lower Middle School (5th & 6th grade) and into Upper Middle School (7th & 8th grade).  Finally, the student achieves the culmination of their journey through Classical Education in the "rhetoric stage" in their years at SLO Classical Academy High School (9th - 12th grade).

The main program at SLOCA will have students attending class two to three days per week.   Students in levels preschool through 8th grades will attend Monday and Wednesday on Track A or attend Tuesday and Thursday on Track B. Optional enrichment days are available on eight Fridays per trimester as well.   High school students attend Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.    There is a 4 or 5-day option for students in grades 6th through 8th.
