It’s been an exciting few weeks reading and learning about the different Renaissance explorers! Today we want to share just a few more websites and activities you could try for fun or for E&E, to finish up this topic:

ACTIVITIES:
Since all this exploration was tied to the spice route, why not make something using cinnamon, or another favorite spice? Here are two easy recipes you might enjoy making with the kids:
Cinnamon Tea – made with cinnamon sticks! {photo, right, via RecipeGreat}
- Break the cinnamon stick into pieces and add it to your mug. If you don’t have cinnamon sticks, add a teaspoon of ground cinnamon to your mug, in a disposable tea bag or cloth tea bag, if you have one.
- Add boiling water.
- Let your cinnamon tea steep for 8 to 10 minutes, and then, if you're using a cinnamon stick, remove the pieces.
- Optional – Add extras like honey or warm milk. Or, for a special treat, add a slice of orange and then top with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon powder.
And here’s a recipe for Easy Snickerdoodles from Live Craft Eat.
New World Tastes activity {photo, left, by The Art of Learning} – Here’s another fun food activity! We learned that the explorers brought back unusual foods from the “new world,” so this website quickly explains how to set up an experiment to have kids try to identify some of these food by smell and taste. It’s about the 5th activity she describes, so scroll down the page a bit to find it.
