Attention 7th-12th grade students! What are you doing over the holiday break? How about writing something to submit to the Hanging Lantern Review 2016 Issue?
If you’re not familiar with Hanging Lantern Review, allow us to introduce you:
“Hanging Lantern Review is an online literary arts/culture blog and annual print magazine showcasing the talents and ideas of young adults throughout San Luis Obispo County. Hosted and produced by the students of San Luis Obispo Classical Academy High School, we started this magazine to both promote the literary arts among high school and middle school students, and to connect with other passionate artists in our unique region.”
(from the HLR blog)
Each year Hanging Lantern Review publishes the works of teen writers in SLO County, and hosts a literature reading and reception where writers of selected works have the opportunity to read their compositions aloud. The team is gearing up for the 2016 issue, and would like to get the word out that submissions are now being accepted for consideration in this upcoming magazine.
Here are a few key guidelines:
- Categories: poetry, literary fiction, creative nonfiction, photography and art.
- Deadline: January 22, 2016.
- Requirements: To be considered, you must be a student from the Central Coast, grades 7-12.
- For detailed submission guidelines, please click here.
So get writing and creating, young literary and art enthusiasts! And spread the word to others in our community who have an interest in any of the above categories. Hanging Lantern Review is a publication of the highest quality, and we always look forward to reading and seeing what our young people contribute.
