Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Sports Report: Cross Country

Happy Friday! Today we bring you another Sports Report and this time we are highlighting our runners! But before we get to it, if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, you are welcome to go back to our last What’s Up Weekend? post and look through the list. Some of the events are recurring and will continue for the remainder of the month. We do want to mention that The Polar Express will be showing at the Fremont on December 22nd if you’re looking for a holiday family movie to go to.

Now back to our runners…they ranged in age from Kindergarten on up to Upper Middle School. We reached out to them to find out if they would be willing to share their thoughts on how their Cross Country season went this year. They were eager to share and we loved the authenticity of their candid answers.

Let’s hear what they have to say…

{A big thank you goes to Jill Richert and Liane Kascha-Hare for capturing these wonderful photos!}

“My favorite part of the cross country was the work-out where we ran to Cuesta Park and I also liked 400 repeats. I like running with other people because it makes me run faster.” – Weston Richert, 5th Grade

“I like being on the cross country team because I like running.” -Abel Richert, 3rd Grade

“I’m not going to do it again. I kinda didn’t like it. The figure 8’s I didn’t like because they are really long. That’s mostly it.”  -Owen Gibson, 1st Grade

“I liked the hill repeats.” -Ezra Newman, 2nd Grade

“Cross country was the best part of my day. It was by far my favorite thing to do all day.  I loved the competition and the friends I made.” -Asher Greenberg, 4th Grade

The good, the bad and the beautiful as only children would say it. Thanks, everyone, for sharing with us and congratulations on another Cross Country season! Goooo, Grizzlies!!!

A quick reminder that the blog will be taking a break next week. We wish you the merriest of holidays with your loved ones, and we’ll see you back here on New Year’s Eve!
