Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Magical Moments: Blankets

{photo by Lisa Boyd}

Welcome back! It’s hard to believe it’s 2013, isn’t it? We hope everyone had a restful and rewarding break, and that you are feeling refreshed and ready to dive back into our second trimester.

Today’s magical moment happened before the break, and comes from Lisa Ann Dillon’s Track A Primary class. Each year, as part of their class Christmas party, her students (and a few parents), help make blankets which are donated to Community Action Partnership of SLO County (formerly known as EOC). Lisa Boyd caught her in the hallway with her load of finished blankets and snapped the above photo. Lisa Ann shared that when she dropped off the blankets the ladies who took them were teary eyed with gratitude. She said the only time she had heard anything about where the blankets go was one time when a family had a 6-month old baby who slept on the ground on top of clothing because they didn’t have a blanket. This family received one and they were so thankful!

What a sweet thing these kids have been doing for others, and we are so grateful to Lisa Ann for heading up this project during the holidays. Enjoy the photos and remind your kids how good it is to give to others!
