Classical Education with a twist

Make Every Minute Matter

SLO Classical Academy began in 2005 on the wings of a dream…a dream that every minute our children spent in class would matter.  A dream that those hours spent at school would be filled with meaning and value, and that the natural passion for learning would be ignited more powerfully over time.  We had the dream that our kids would learn to think for themselves, that they would be far more prepared for life than we were, and that their schooling would reach their hearts, minds, and very souls.  With the help of amazing parents and staff with a similar dream, SLO Classical Academy is celebrating more than 13 years––of a dream come true.

Our Magical formula

classical education

At the heart of SLOCA’s identity is classical education and the pursuit of virtue. Stemming from an ancient approach to learning, it guides our decisions and inspires our every educational move. To fully understand SLOCA, you must also explore classical education.

family involvement

For both our hybrid and Full Time students ,  the value of the homelife  points to our belief that family is of utmost importance in children’s lives, especially  in their educational lives. Children thrive best when their parents are actively engaged in their academics, and at SLOCA family is woven into all we do.

strong community

Foundational to our success—and the success of each student—is our amazing, dynamic community. Students, teachers, administration, support staff, parents and our board and committees all work together to create a special place of belonging for all.

character development

From the first day of class to the final moments of the year, our students steep themselves in the idea that to live a good and worthy life, we must all work on our character.  SLOCA’s character traits are not only posted in public spaces and classrooms, but are explored and emphasized with each piece of literature we read.  When we study  historical figures, we dive into the nature of their character.  Today, more than ever, a classical education, founded in the quest for goodness, truth, and beauty, will gird students minds and hearts for the future.
