IN KEEPING WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRICS, WE WILL CONTINUE TO CONSIDER ALL ASPECTS OF OUR CHILDREN’S WELL-BEING. THIS INCLUDES THEIR PHYSICAL SAFETY AS WELL AS THEIR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH. SLOCA’S HYBRID APPROACH, SMALL CLASS SIZES, AND STRINGENT SICK POLICY PROVIDES A PLACE TO CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON OUR CHILDREN’S EDUCATION.

NOTE: This page is a “live document” and serves to provide information about how SLOCA is handling protocols related to Coronavirus.  Please check back regularly for updates and be aware that procedures and protocols will change as new information about the virus becomes known, as the CDC makes amendments to their recommendations, and in response to the local Department of Health requirements.

Responses to the COVID-19 epidemic in school settings continue to vary significantly around the world.  From full academic closures to zero mitigation efforts, there are examples of schools undertaking drastically different measures.  Here at SLOCA, we will continue to follow the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention coupled with additional protocols and guidelines recommended by the SLO Health Department and local health officials

If you are not feeling well, stay home.

  • To return to campus you will need to complete ALL of the following:
    • Be fever free for 48 hour without the use of fever reducing medication
    • Free of vomiting and diarrhea for 48 hours without medication
    • Symptoms must be significantly improved
    • If your child comes to campus and is unwell they will be sent home

Due to rapidly changing guidelines for all communicable illnesses, we ask that you reach out to [email protected] in the event that your student or someone in your household has covid, influenza, chicken pox, or any other communicable illness.

  • At this time we do not require any documentation or testing to return to campus from Travel. At anytime if your child is feeling unwell upon returning, please follow the above.

Drop off and pick up will be in the main parking lot. Parking can be tight please be courteous of your fellow community members, if you are unable to find parking you are able to use the drive-through option in which you would drive through, please note if you choose to drive through do not leave your car. If your student is in 1st grade and above, you can use the drive-through drop-off or park and drop-off.  For Kindergarten students, please park and walk your student to the small playground. If you arrive after 8:30 you must accompany your child to the office to get a pink slip and then walk them to their class. 

KINDERGARTEN-UMS

Drop-off 
8:20am — All students are required to meet on the small playground for morning meeting then head to class with their teachers at 8:25am. Parents are encouraged to join their student(s) at morning meeting on the small playground.

Pick-up
2:30 – Kinder through 4th grades
2:35 – LMS through UMS 

Kindergarten 
10:15-10:30 Recess
12:15-12:55 Lunch
1:30-1:40 Recess

Primary/Intermediate
9:40-9:55 Recess
11:30-12:10 Lunch
1:30-1:40 Recess

LMS/UMS
10:15-10:25 Recess
12:10-12:50 Lunch
