Here at Down Home, we love to highlight the magical homeschooling moments sent in by parents. But our teachers have plenty of magical moments to share too! Today we give you a very sweet and memorable experience from our Track B Primary teacher, Jennifer Perneel. Mrs. Perneel has a class of all boys this year, and she is enjoying them immensely! Here’s what she wrote to share with us:
We are reading Tom Sawyer and are at the part where Huck takes it upon himself to save Widow Douglass, but does it anonymously. This week, I assigned my students the task of making someone smile just for the sake of being kind. One of them showed up with these delicious homemade cookies for me. Below is what is left of them on a pile of thank you letters they wrote to soldiers in the military, with the grandparents that came for Grand Day, my lesson plan book, iPad and always growing to-do list. This pile pretty much symbolizes my teaching life and even though I am working at almost 9pm with no end in sight, I love it.

Thank you for sharing these with us, Jennifer. What a sweet bunch of little guys you have in your class, and we love seeing the kindness demonstrated through these activities!
Announcement: This month’s winner of our Citizenship drawing is: Rachael Nolan! Congratulations – look for your gift certificate to the school store in your family file later this week. Thanks for participating, everyone!
