Kid Clutter Solutions

Over the break many of us probably spent some time organizing and decluttering different parts of our homes, because let’s face it, homeschooling is a lot easier when there’s a place for everything and we have some level of control over our stuff! One area that seems to need ongoing attention is what to do with kid toys, books, clothes, etc.

Now that Christmas is over you may have a few new kid items to find homes for, so today we share some ideas for controlling the kid clutter. Many of these suggestions would also work for homeschool supplies and activities as well!

1. Tip Hero shares great uses for shoe organizers – like storing dolls, Power Rangers, stuffed animals, or other collections of small toys. These can also be used to keep math manipulatives or art supplies organized.

2. And how about using a smaller version for a car organizer, from Everyday Dishes. What a smart idea for keeping toys and activities handy for your next car trip, or for homeschooling on the go.

3. Today’s Mama used a cute idea from Lolly Jane Boutique – mount inexpensive flower planters on the wall for toy storage.

4. Apartment Therapy’s genius idea for inexpensive forward-facing bookshelves, made out of spice racks.

5. Using TP rolls, kids can help make this DIY project for storing toy cars, from Amazing Interior Design

1. I’m an Organizing Junkie has lots of cool ideas for storing garage toys in this post – a favorite is this mini parking lot.

2. If you are SO over dressers and folding kid laundry, here’s a different approach from Being Brook. It’s a DIY Laundry Basket Dresser project that could be useful for clothes, toys, or garage storage. You could even make a smaller version with medium or small baskets for homeschool storage.

3. Brilliant bath toy storage from Heather Drive using a tension rod, shower hooks and plastic baskets.

4. Here’s another clever use for a tension rod and shower organizer, from Better Homes and Gardens – tuck this away into a corner to hold art supplies or other small items.

5. Do your kids have “treasures” that don’t really belong anywhere but they can’t live without them? This idea from Kids Activities Blog might especially appeal to boys – use a toolbox to store all those precious bits and pieces.

Kids Activities Blog also has an entire post dedicated to Lego Organization Ideas – check it out:
