In honor of President's Day, there are no classes on campus on Monday and Tuesday. As you head into the long weekend, here’s a quote to chew on, from the Roman philosopher Seneca:
It is not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it. Life is long enough, and a sufficiently generous amount has been given to us for the highest achievements if it were all well invested. But when it is wasted in heedless luxury and spent on no good activity, we are forced at last by death’s final constraint to realize that it has passed away before we knew it was passing. So it is: we are not given a short life but we make it short, and we are not ill-supplied but wasteful of it… Life is long if you know how to use it.
~ Seneca
Reflect on the knowledge that our time as parents, as teachers, and as students is well invested here at SLO Classical Academy. It is spent on good activity: on pursuing wisdom, growing character, nurturing families, learning through history, instilling a love of great literature, and developing critical thinking, writing, and presentation skills, to name a few.
And it all happens within close families and this amazing community – thank you for being part of it!
We wish you a sufficiently generous amount of time this weekend to rest and recharge, and to be ready for more time well spent when we come back!
