March is here, and that means a new character trait to focus on! This month we begin our “Heroic Quest” fundraiser, and what does every hero need? Courage:
Attempting difficult things that are worthwhile and facing difficulties and challenges with determination to do the right thing even when others don’t.
Catch phrase: Dare to be different!
Not all heroes slay dragons. It’s the small heroic deeds undertaken by regular people who make this world-go-round. In celebration of this idea, this month we begin our 9th annual kid-driven fundraiser:
Between March 16th – March 27th all 324 students of SLO Classical Academy will be working to raise funds for our school. This year we are focusing on heroism in our community. Our students will ask friends and family to support them by making a donation to our school as they in turn support their community and help to make the world a better place by performing small acts of heroism. Quests range from collecting fruit for Glean SLO to writing thank you notes to the active members of the United States Military stationed over seas. (Details about the fundraiser will be sent home with kids, and will be in the update.)
Our culminating all-school Heroic Quest will take place in Downtown SLO on March 27th at 1:30 pm where all students, staff and families will come together to perform an outward showing of local heroism and appreciation for our community.
This month, let’s encourage our kids and each other to be courageous in our fundraising efforts as we work together to support our amazing school. Let’s seize opportunities to be heroes in small (and big) ways!
We look forward to seeing all the student projects tonight at our Science Night! Dinner will be available starting at 5 pm. The projects start showing at 6 pm. Come support our kids' hard work, and grab a treat at the bake sale to support our Middle School Student Council!
