Happy Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! In honor of our exceptional teachers and staff, today we want to highlight just one quick example of the amazing opportunities our kids have had here at SLO Classical Academy, outside of “the grid.” This was sent in by Caroline Vaccaro, our Academy Class Coordinator, Kindergarten and Intermediate Art teacher, and one of the teachers of the Money Matters class (Nick Stavros taught the other class):
I wanted to let you know about some great things happening at SLOCA. This year, our Trimester 1 B4 and Trimester 2 A4 classes learned about money in our Money Matters class. We took a look at the global economy and learned about the history of the economy of the United States. We also learned about what it takes for our families to create budgets. We also ran a successful lemonade stand after school.
So where did the money go? Well, the students voted on the need for the middle school to have some tables in their back area. So thanks to Susie Madonna we were able to buy and transport 3 tables back to SLOCA and they are being enjoyed by all of Mr. Sarwine’s classes. Friday Foundations are enjoying lunch at the tables and teachers have even been seen eating their lunch at the tables during the week. Mr. Stavros was also issued a new table for his back patio area. So great things are happening!

Thank you so much, Caroline and Nick, for teaching this amazing class, for caring for our kids and helping them complete this project, and for sharing this wonderful story with our readers. Our kids are blessed to be a part of this school, and we sure do love and appreciate our teachers!
