This week’s supplemental links will focus on our literature instead of history: Don Quixote. We will be wrapping up this book soon, so below you’ll find some videos and illustrations to have more fun with our Spanish hero.
VIDEOS:
When you finish the book, why not watch a movie or cartoon version, just for fun? Here are a few:
Tales of Magic – Don Quixote – Cartoon Fables:
ComiColor – Don Quixote: (another classic cartoon)
Here’s a TV movie of Don Quixote (made in 2000) starring John Lithgow, Bob Hoskins, Isabella Rossellini, and Vanessa Williams.
You can also rent the musical Man of La Mancha on Amazon or get it through the Blackgold Library system – this is the 1972 version with Peter O’Toole and Sophia Loren. It’s rated PG, but PG in the 70s isn’t the same as PG today, so use parental discretion.
ILLUSTRATIONS:
Our school store has posters of Picasso's Don Quixote illustration, and Gustave Doré's Don Quixote in His Library. We may also have the book, Doré's Illustrations for Don Quixote. There’s also a ton of beautiful Don Quixote artwork available to view online. Here are just a few sites to check out:
