Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Semper discentes—always learning together.

Wednesday Wonder: Arbor Day Art

{photos by Mrs. Vaccaro}

Each year 1st-4th graders enter a city-wide art contest for Arbor Day. Winners are chosen and given certificates for their art by the Mayor of SLO. This year several SLOCA students received this honor! They were recognized in the weekly update, but here are their names again, as well as a few photos taken at the Nov. 7 event, by Mrs. Vaccaro, our Intermediate art teacher.

1st grade:
Will Diffenbaugh, Ella Staniec, Alexia Weaver

2nd grade:
Sibylla Ridley, Lily Moore, Luca Archie

3rd grade:
Silas Cheney, Esther Newman, Dane Indvik

4th grade:
Kylie Womack, Elica Haar, Fiona Ritter

Congratulations, students!

And thank you, Mrs. Vaccaro, for pouring your love of art into our kids, and helping them develop artistic skills. The arts are vital to a well-rounded education, and we are so thankful that our students benefit from this essential component of our program!
