Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

{image via Liberty Letters}

Today we have even more Jamestown links to look into for E&E:

VIDEOS:

Exploring the World – The English Come to America Jamestown and Plymouth – This is a little dated, but is a decent 20-minute documentary about both colonies:

Finding the Founders of English America – A team of archaeologists and scientists from the Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation at Historic Jamestowne and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History have identified the remains of four men buried in Jamestown’s recently discovered historic 1608 church:

The World of Pocahontas Unearthed – Another video from the Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation:

Powatan Village – This shows photos and video of a re-creation of a Powhatan Village near historical Jamestown:

And here’s something similar, but narrated by a teacher:

Videos about the Jamestown Settlement  – We referred to this website last week, but here is a page with several educational videos about Jamestown and related topics.

Anna’s Adventures Videos and Activity Sheets – There are several here to explore, and some look really fun! Not all are directly related to Jamestown, so read the descriptions to find those. But they all look like interesting options as we continue to learn about American History.
