Two things that definitely go together during summer on the Central Coast are friends and the beach. What a great way to nurture relationships, while enjoying relaxation and fun together, fresh air, and vitamin D. And it’s free!
While this might sound like the most obvious suggestion we could put forth for a summer activity, ponder for a moment… how many times have you found yourself wishing that you went to the beach more often?
We know of one SLOCA family who plans out a beach day each week (at different locations) and invites a bunch of friends to join them. It started out as a way to motivate their own family to get to the beach during summer, and to try out several of the lovely coastal spots around the county. A few years later, it has become a summer tradition!
This is inspiring, and we hope you might be prompted to do something similar, even if it's not every week, and even if you only ask one other family you’ve been wanting to spend time with. Maybe you can glean some ideas or encouragemet from a veteran SLOCA family. Or it might be nice to ask a new-to-SLOCA family, who would appreciate the invitation! Or someone from your neighborhood or another circle outside of school. It is a blessing to live near so many beaches, and we hope you are able to get out there and soak up the sun, sand, and waves with friends this summer.
If you'd like to join in with this SLOCA family (and others), click here for a schedule of beach days. They meet between noon and 3 pm on Wednesdays. Or feel free to use this list to make your own beach day schedule!
