Looking for a fun family outing this weekend? Visit the Monarch Butterfly Grove in Pismo Beach while the butterflies are still here! (If the weather is nice, that is…) Docents provide daily talks at 11 am and 2 pm. For many families this is a yearly tradition, but in case you’ve forgotten about this gem, we wanted to remind you before the season ends (usually late October through February) . Click here for more info about the monarch butterflies, and activities for kids.
If you can't make it this weekend, next weekend (February 4th), the Butterfly Grove is planning to celebrate California Western Monarch Day from 10 am – 4 pm. There will be butterfly talks and educational booths for adults, as well as art activities for children. And of course, the thousands of Monarchs hanging in huge clusters from the eucalyptus and pine trees in the grove.
Complete the adventure by traversing the trail out to the beach afterward and playing in the dunes or taking a walk along the shore. How about a picnic? A delightful family afternoon is in the works!
Whatever you do this weekend, Down Home wants to cheer on your efforts to spend quality tech-free time with the people you love most.
