A beautiful and enchanted evening awaits every guest of SLOCA’s Gala Fundraising event this October 28th. Inspired by the Tuscan venue at CaliPaso Winery, the event chairs decided to create a theme and feeling of autumn in Italy, thus the name: Salute!
In addition to fine wine pairings with each course, delectable desserts created by local pastry artists and dancing beneath the stars as the evening dwindles toward dawn, a real sense of philanthropy will confirm that this night is not merely one of frivolity. It also has genuine purpose: a villa filled with with the good intentions of folks who support education at SLO Classical Academy!
Pandora’s Box
As guests enter the tree-lined path leading to the festivities, they will have the opportunity to purchase a beautiful box filled with a surprise gift! From a display of 100 adorned presents, every person who partakes in the Pandora’s Box game is a guaranteed winner. Through the generosity of our community, we have collected 100 of the finest and most desirable prizes available this side of Mount Olympus. And, like Pandora herself, after each guest lays claim to a box of their choosing, they must resist the temptation to open the lovely favor until later in the evening.
The anticipation, though, is only the first part of this activity. For what lies inside of each bundle of bounty is a prize worthy of the cost of entry. A stay at Comus House on Denner Vineyards, hundreds of dollars in restaurant dining, a trip to Acapulco, an inclusive (and exclusive) experience at Vina Robles or a private tour of Firestone Brewery are only a few of the bits of goodness brimming within each box. One lucky person will open a box which entitles them to a yoga retreat; a few others will enjoy massages, acupuncture, spa experiences and evenings at the theater. We have one hundred prizes bursting from 100 boxes!
Upon the conclusion of selling each elegant box and toward the end of the evening, servers will deliver to each guest the particular box they claimed as their own. At a signal given by our auctioneer, the revealing will commence! Amid the frenzy, fun and festivity of opening the Pandora’s Boxes, each lucky winner will truly revel in knowing how they have made a difference here at our school and participated as philanthropists bettering the world one student at a time.
