Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Free Friday and Happy Mother’s Day 2018

“Being a mom has made me so tired. And so happy.”

~ Tina Fey

Three cheers for moms! We know you’re out there – taking care of everyone, tired and under-appreciated. This Sunday is just one day out of the year when we pause to celebrate moms, but we hope you know how cherished and indispensable you are all year long. You are amazing and we salute you!

Do you have any Mother’s Day traditions you keep in your family? A few of ours (Jenny’s) are:

1. I always try to get a photo of me with all the kids on Mother’s Day.

2. I usually ask for some kind of plant – house plant, outdoor plant, small tree…

3. I try to take a nap on Mother’s Day – luxury!

4. A new tradition (2nd annual) for us is that we are going to the Melodrama as a family on Mother’s Day. This might be a keeper!

Whatever your traditions are, we hope all you moms out there enjoy a delightful day of being honored and loved on by your families. Happy Mother’s Day!
