Part of SLOCA’s mission statement is to be “a community that forges character…,” and strengthening character is one of the purposes, considered one of the integral elements, of classical education. One of the many ways we can see part of this mission statement in action is through volunteer work.
For today’s Freebie in SLO County! idea, here are some tips on where or how to volunteer in your community this summer. There are countless organizations dedicated to helping numerous causes…from animals, to the environment, to our precious elderly…the opportunities are plentiful! We also found this helpful article, for those interested in reading about the mental and emotional health benefits of volunteering.
And of course, if you have been a part of SLOCA for any length of time at all, you know that one of the indispensable and important pieces of our community is that of its volunteers. SLOCA would not run as smoothly as it does without this incredibly generous group of people so feel free to contact our school for opportunities this summer as well.
