“Stepping out of a normal routine, finding novelty, being open to serendipity, enjoying the unexpected, embracing a little risk, and finding pleasure in the heightened vividness of life. These are all qualities of a state of play.”
-Stuart M. Brown Jr., Play: How It Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul.
Here at SLOCA, we value the importance of Play and if you haven’t already noticed, we can’t think of a better time to make it a priority than summer! So, pack a picnic lunch, grab some friends, and head outdoors! Because…when was the last time you played Capture the Flag?!
This game has been around for many, many years, is a lot of fun, and the best part, it doesn’t take a whole lot of preparation! If you need an overview of how to play Capture the Flag, here is a simple guide you can read. If you’re looking for a more “forested” area, which the guide mentions would be ideal, head on over to Atascadero Lake Park. It’s the perfect “forested” place with lots of trees where you can sit afterwards to have your picnic!
