Several years ago we facilitated what we called a Down Home Tour, where we visited homes of SLOCA families to see how they set up their homeschool areas. It was a wonderful way to share organizational ideas and gain inspiration. The tour would then end with a lovely lunch prepared by the home tour host, which provided an enjoyable environment simply learning from each other. It was a lot of fun and parents walked away encouraged along with a new idea or two for their homeschool space.
While we aren’t doing physical tours at the moment, we have been posting Down Home Virtual Home Tours of our current families and their homes. Our very first one was with the Newman family a few years ago where Joy shared her school-at-home systems:
Then two years ago, the Collins family shared what works for them and their space:
The Bischoff family also recently shared their homeschool corner that specifically highlights how Jenny organizes her Math manipulatives:
The Down Home Virtual Home Tours have been a great resource for those of us needing ideas on how to better organize our homeschooling areas and we are looking for more!! Your house or room does not have to be perfect – we just need SLOCA families who are willing to show their homeschool space and share what works for them! You don’t even have to write anything long (or at all!). If you prefer to just show photos and a quick description of the space, that’s totally fine too!
What do you think? Are you interested?? If you are, shoot us an email! We would love to hear from you!
