Happy Wednesday, everyone! It might be chilly out there but we have a heartwarming story for you today. This short WONDER story came to us earlier in the school year when we received a note from our History Day Coordinator, Stephanie Ridley, about her youngest SLOCA student.
Let’s read on…
Sometimes you don’t have to look very hard for the wonders, they present themselves to you (just after getting out of the shower even). One morning Ensio brought me his latest drawing.
“I drew a lightsaber and wrote it too!” he announced to me.
I put my glasses on and then looked as he read out the letters he had written.
“ L-I-T-S-A, those two were mess ups, B-R!”
“Wow, Ensio, that is great writing! Which sister told you how to spell it?” was my response.
“No sisters! I did it!” he declared.
We have begun the kinder OPG reading book, but I was surprised that he could spell that well. He also has loved drawing with Mrs. Eades in Jr K last year, and his progress really shows. This was indeed a moment of wonder where I could see so many pieces of the early education puzzle come together for him.
Isn’t that the cutest? It is so exciting when our students connect the dots!! Way to go, Ensio!
We LOVE reading stories like this! If you have something similar of your own that you’d like to share with our readers, please email us and let us know! We look forward to hearing your WONDERing anecdotes!

Love this! Pretty tough word he was trying to spell. I love that he was trying at all. Thank you for sharing.
Such a hard word for that age! I was so impressed!! 🙂
What a feat! Super cute and inspiring kid you have there, Stephanie!
