Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Be Our Hero!

Happy day, everyone! Welcome back to Fill-Me-In Friday! Today, we have some special stories to share with you. For the past couple of weeks, SLOCA’s Grammar and Middle School students have been working hard performing good deeds around the community. In support of these heroic acts, family and friends donate and sponsor our students. This sponsorship allows the opportunity (and privilege!) for our students to serve those around them, which in turn benefits the greater community. It also allows our loved ones to participate in helping cover the costs for our programs. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved!

If you or a loved one desire to participate, read on below for inspiration and other ideas on how to be a hero! The next few days is the perfect time to flex your citizenship muscles and go make a difference!

Have a beautiful weekend and we look forward to hearing YOUR heroic quest stories!

Dillon Family

Lyla Dillon went around her neighborhood asking for donations for Fred & Betty’s. She then collected them and dropped them off!

Nagy Family

James and Sophia have worked so hard during this fundraiser, all with so much love. They almost reached their $300 goal cleaning up Los Osos,  but addition to that, they sold handmade soaps and homegrown lavender bouquets. All proceeds (so far $203) from the sale is going to ECHO Homeless Shelter in Atascadero.

Newman Family

The Newman’s hosted a Feed-the-Neighborhood Pop-up Party where they served dinner to family & friends at their home. Ezra (2nd grade), Esther (6th grade), and Abraham (7th grade) helped cook and served dinner to their guests.

Murgatroyd Family

The Murgatroyd family went out to help clean up the future Earth Day village site at Laguna Lake Park in SLO.
