Summers provide a wide range of flexibility for parents and children. Some families have a bucket list they like to have – I know for me (Cheryl), especially when my kids were younger, it was helpful to have a game plan for “mom camp.” Other families prefer a more loose schedule – not deciding what to do until they wake up that morning. Whichever side of the spectrum you fall on, we thought we’d share a couple of special events you may want to add to your list or have on the back of your mind to do.
First off is a historic WWII vessel, the P-250 also known as the “crash boat,” that arrived in Morro Bay in June. If you haven’t already, make sure to check it out. It is part of Morro Bay’s new Patriot Pride Week that started Monday and runs through tomorrow. It costs $5-$7 to tour the 85-foot vessel.
The next one takes us down a little further south to the Reagan Library in Simi Valley. It’s not too long of a drive and kids can spend hours in the museum. My husband and I, along with our boys, ages 7, 11, and 13 at the time visited the Pompeii exhibit over Spring Break and even my youngest (primary student) was captivated! Their next exhibit is all about Da Vinci. With our Renaissance history cycle coming in the fall, this is a great way to get your students excited!
Let us know if you end up checking either event out!

Thank you Cheryl…I had no idea of these two events.
Morro Bay’s stayed nice and cool so far…might be a nice break today for our North County folks to come check out the WWII vessel 🙂
These both look great – thanks for the ideas!
You’re so welcome, Jenny!
