Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

August Work Day

Hello, Down Home readers and happy Friday! Can you believe it has been a month since we gathered in August to spruce up our campus in preparation for the school year? I don’t know about you, but I (Sharon) look forward to these work days each year and it is not because I really relish washing windows and sharpening pencils, (ok, actually I do find sharpening pencils rather cathartic, but that is not the point.)  These work days are not solely about the work that is accomplished, although that is extremely important, but about bringing us together as a community. Students, staff, parents, and grandparents all working towards a common goal, really bolsters one’s enthusiasm for the upcoming school year. If you were able to be a part of this day, thank you for participating; we hope you were encouraged and energized for the new year. If you missed it, we missed you and don’t worry, there will be other opportunities.

Here are some photos to celebrate our day of hard work and community.  Be sure to check out the video at the end taken by William West.

And an extra big thank you to those who contributed photos-Josh Ernstrom, Jessica Wilson, and Heidi Mitchell.
