Welcome back! We hope that your break was a time of rest that has prepared you to jump back into Trimester 2. This week our history track finds us tackling a tricky subject that has impacted our world for centuries and still does today: slavery. For our Monday Mix-ins, you’ll find a few intense videos on this topic. Please be sure to view these first before showing them to your students. We have done our best to select videos that are not visually graphic, but they are honest about slavery. To lighten up our mix-ins you will find information about the history of sugar, the commodity that played a huge role in the slave trade. We’ve also included some fun facts on Mark Twain, the author of our current literature book The Prince and the Pauper and a unique video about “musical” train horns. Here’s to a smooth transition back into this week of school!
