Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

William Shakespeare

Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them.

To say that William Shakespeare was “great” seems like an understatement. We could probably come up with a better quality adjective. Not only was he a prolific playwright and poet, but he invented over 1,700 words and is responsible for dozens of sayings and idioms we still use today. We could go on and on about the Bard of Avon, but “brevity is the soul of wit” (Hamlet, Polonius Act 2 Scene 2).
