Do you know the Latin word for window? (Quick, go ask your kids.) It is fenestra. Any guesses, then, what defenestration means? The picture above should give you a clue. It is of the 2nd Defenestration of Prague an event which sparked the start of the Thirty Years’ War. (2nd, yes, it had happened before!) Isn’t history fascinating? Today our Monday Mix-ins will focus on two wars that occurred on different sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Our UMS students will be learning about the Thirty Years’ War, while the Primary-LMS students will be studying King Philip’s War and the relationships between the natives and the colonists. Check out the fun links and videos we’ve put together on these two significant wars.
