We have another Senior Project to share with you today. What an impressive class of students SLOCA High School has sent out into our world that is in need of their fresh perspective, creativity, and insight. Today we are featuring Ajjon Zimmerman.
Ajjon Zimmerman — Bleached: The Demise of Our Coral Reefs
Bleached: The Demise of Our Coral Reefs is a self-made documentary on coral bleaching–specifically in the Florida Keys. All editing and narrating was done by me, and almost all underwater footage was filmed by me when I visited the Florida Keys earlier this school year. This documentary is my attempt of getting a message across to the audience (through the use of music, visuals, etc); that message being that our coral reefs are dying at an incredibly fast rate and are in desperate need of our help. This documentary touches on climate change worldwide, explains the science behind coral bleaching (at a basic level), refers to scientific studies to back up how dire the situation is, explains how it affects everyone, and ends with hope, as well as some suggestions on how everyone can help our ecosystems and their organisms. This was an incredible experience for me, from researching to seeing with my own eyes what is left of the coral reefs in Florida. To the people that take their time to watch my project, I hope that you will be able to take something away from it like I did.
