Happy Wednesday! We have another Senior Project to share with you. Today, Sia Faber gives us a summary of her project Seeds of Dance. Check it out!
Sia Faber: Seeds of Dance
My Senior Project, Seeds of Dance began out of my curiosity about the effects that a plant-based diet can have on a dancer. With one full school year researching health and ballet, I found that, yes a plant-based diet is one of the healthier things you can do for your body but, in order to fuel your body and feel beautiful you have to do you. You don’t have to go full-out vegan but being healthy is fueling your body and soul. Your body is what you live in, it is your home and I feel that a healthy way of eating can only help lead you to find your home.
I researched veganism but I also found that slowly but surely changes are happening in the dance world, such as the shift to a more welcoming community for body types, and the acknowledgment of the lack of diversity in ballet companies around the world. The old traditions of the “perfect Ballerina”. These standards soon will not be met and that is and will be growth. Everybody deserves to dance no matter how tall, or short you are, or even the color of your skin or the shape of your body. We all deserve to dance.
By fueling your body you fuel your soul, and I feel that a healthy way of eating can only help lead you to find your inner dancer. Balance is key and that is where and when happiness can be unlocked.

Well done Sia😊I love that you address the issue of how body type requirements have for decades crushed the dreams of countless youngsters and prevented them entry into the professional dance world. Your desire to open the dance world to students of all body builds, and especially to young people of color speaks to the goodness of who you are. Combining the idea of eating healthy plant based foods and helping the environment simultaneously fits well with changing society’s attitudes about how we as Americans see and judge others.Bravo!! With love and admiration, Omi❤️
Well done Sia! This was a wonderful presentation with many important messages. Not only are you a great dancer, you’re a great teacher too. I’m so proud of you!
