San Luis Obispo Classical Academy San Luis Obispo Classical Academy

Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Semper discentes—always learning together.

Sponsor Spotlight #3

Hello and happy Friday! Did you know that SLO Classical Academy has sponsors? We do! A lot of them! We want you to know all about them, so we are continuing our Sponsor Spotlight series. Before we jump in, are you wondering why we have sponsors? Check out this Wondering Why post written by our Director of Marketing and Merchandising, Betsi Ashby, to learn more about sponsorship at SLOCA. Today, we want to introduce you to two of our spectacular sponsors.

Meet the Sponsors:

Tell us about your business. What services does it provide?

  • Main Street: We are a full-service veterinary hospital providing compassionate care to canine and feline patients of San Luis Obispo county. We offer a range of services from wellness related care to the diagnosis and management of various illnesses seen in our four-legged friends. We have a full in house lab, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound unit, dental suite, and surgery suite. We have 3 full-time doctors supported by a kind and fun-loving team. We take our time to partner with our clients to make sure we are offering the best possible care to each patient. We approach our day based on our 3 core principles; professionalism, integrity, and respect!
  • Mamamorphosis: Helping mommies physically, with physical therapy; & emotionally, from personal experience through the stages of motherhood – from preparing the mind & body to conceive, through 10 months of pregnancy, training for labor & delivery, addressing postpartum changes, and beyond, all the way to the grandparent years. Treating everything from common aches/pains to more complex issues surrounding motherhood.

Briefly share how your business started?

  • Main Street: We were started in 1988 when the small house on Main Street was converted into a veterinary hospital.
  • Mamamorphosis: Wishing for a service like this when I was pregnant! That led to helping family and friends with their pre/postpartum questions and issues. When they all told me to open my own clinic, eventually I obeyed the calling.

Why have you chosen to sponsor SLOCA?

  • Main Street: My children attend SLOCA. We love the school and the committed families that make up our community!
  • Mamamorphosis: As a way to say thank you to our beloved school of 8 years. And a great way to help with fundraising. (It’s hard to say no to Cozy!)

How do you set yourself apart from other similar businesses?

  • Main Street: We know that to provide great care we need to be excellent communicators, provide thoughtful options for each case, and treat people and their pets the way we would want to be treated if we were in their shoes. This sounds simple but is not typical in the world of healthcare for people or pets.
  • Mamamorphosis: I am always learning, (semper discentes!) I think outside the box, consider the whole person, am willing to work on pelvic floor issues, work with moms’ schedules around naps/feeding/school/work times, and generally try to nurture Moms in every way. When Moms feel better the whole family benefits and that spreads to the world.

A big Thank You to all of our SLOCA sponsors!
