We have two more senior projects to share with you today. Read on to hear more about these two super creative projects!
Alexander Brehio: Recycled Trash
My project “Recycled Trash” is a collection of short stories that make use of genres in which are overused or otherwise considered trashy. I chose this project because I wanted to challenge myself. The idea of turning another zombie story into something exciting sounded like an enjoyable challenge. I started the project simply looking to write a collection of short stories without any particular direction; however, I was then drawn to the genres Horror and Fantasy by the suggestions of my advisor, Sarah Shotwell, and the novel Grendel by John Gardner. My collection of short stories is an example of why young writers should not abandon a specific genre that they enjoy writing in simply due to it being overused. Instead, a young writer can use things like genre mixing (Horror and comedy are my personal favorite) or simply using an underappreciated character perspective to give new life to a genre that is only seen.

Jacob Tebbets: Learning Electronic Music Production, and My Attempt
I have always had a love for music, and around 2011, I discovered EDM (electronic dance music) and I immediately fell in love with it. Since then my passion for it has only grown. I have started to DJ and mix music as well as produce it, which is what the basis of my project was. I had never produced a song that wasn’t made entirely from pre-made loops that I just stacked on top of each other, and I wanted to challenge myself to do this because I know that if I didn’t then I never would. So I did. Producing electronic music seems like something that may be easy at first to many because it’s just putting together a bunch of different sounds and making patterns, which is true, but there is so much more to it. Understanding the software is hands down the most important thing when it comes to electronic music production, which is what my presentation educates you about. Overall this project has allowed me to truly dive deeper into the field of work that I would like to pursue and has opened my eyes to the world of EDM even more.
