“A library is a platform upon which we catch trains to Every Where and Any Place, Another Time and Across Space. All Aboard!” – Esme Raji Codell
Happy Wednesday! I (Wei) find it hard to believe that it is nearly October… This September at SLOCA has been a busy one. Today we are sharing whats been happening on and off campus during the first full month of school. To follow along on a daily basis, go to @sloclassicalacademy for our Instagram profile!
Here at SLOCA we decided to have a gentle start to the year, prioritizing play and falling back in love with learning. After a heavy year last year, teachers were encouraged to ‘woo’ kids slowly back to the school year. This month this was reflected in many different ways! Our UMS team decided to head outside for some team building games on their first days back.
Our Primary classes (and their fearless Art teacher!) embraced the ancient way of CAVE painting in their own classroom. What a great hands on way to start the study of the Ancients!
Our Intermediate students went on an archeological dig outside! Word on the street was that a cassette tape was ‘excavated’ alongside other items. (Perhaps some other things too?)
Our LMS students created characters from Gilgamesh out of playdough and took turns guessing about their classmates’ creations and how they connected to the story.
Last but not least our High School went camping to reconnect and prepare for the busy school year ahead!
Have any pictures from around SLOCA that you would be happy to share? Email [email protected] and we would love to have them!
