Since our character trait of the month is Integrity, today we want to highlight one area in which our SLOCA students have displayed integrity this year. Part of integrity is being consistent in words and actions. We talk about the importance of our character traits, but what good are words without actions?
Quite a few times over the past school year, our students have demonstrated exceptional character by visiting the residents of the Mission View Health Center. It all started back in October (click here to view the blog post about that first visit), but it wasn’t a one-time community service. Our students have had several opportunities to return and visit with the residents there. They sit and talk with them, play games with them, and connect with the elderly.
SLOCA students have shown respect, kindness, resilience, responsibility, and stewardship through these visits. They are demonstrating integrity by not merely saying they believe character is important, but by choosing to grow in virtue through caring for others in this way.
If having integrity means being consistent in words and actions, our students have done just that. We’d like to give a huge Thank You to all the students and parents who made these visits possible! Here are a few photos from one of the recent community service visits to the Mission View Health Center:
