Good news – it’s Friday! As the end of the school year approaches, we’ve all got a lot on our minds and calendars. Progress reports, history day, end-of-year events… it’s all great stuff but can make life feel crazy at times! Try to stay ahead a little bit when you can (start those progress reports!), read the updates and teacher emails, and embrace the process of reflecting and celebrating as we head toward the finish line.
Planning some “Free by Five” time can help too. Let’s remember to take some time this weekend to unplug and slow down, set aside digital distractions, and purposefully connect with family. They are the most important people in our lives, our best support group, and the reason we do what we do!
Here’s a family-time conversation starter that may interest you and your kids from a historical and scientific point of view: a SLOCA parent found this article about how the Egyptians transported the pyramid stones across sand. It's interesting – see what the kids think! (But print it out first if you don't want to huddle around a screen!)
If you’re looking to get out of the house tomorrow, here’s a family-friendly event happening in North County: Children’s Day in the Park in Atascadero – Saturday, May 17th, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.
