Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Semper discentes—always learning together.

2nd Trimester is Here!

welcome to trimester 2

Welcome back, everyone! How was your Thanksgiving break? We hope you all had a bit of time to focus on all that you are thankful for as you unplugged, rested and recharged last week.

Now that we are back in the swing of things, we want to remind you that we have our Trimester 2 History and Literature Training for our parents tonight at 6:30 pm. It is always an inspiring time of learning and WONDERing and we hope to see you there!

We’re going to ease into our week with just a few supplemental resources for you as we are head over to Europe, in class, and explore how the King of Denmark, Sweyn, invaded England and how Canute the Great won the love of his Anglo-Saxon subjects. We will also learn how Edward, the son of the Saxon Ethelred, was elected king and became known as Edward the Confessor. We also found a few resources to compliment what we’re reading for our literature this week and what we’re learning in our Science classes.

Let’s take a look…
