Wasn’t it fun getting to know some of our new staff last week? We have another group of new staff to introduce you to today in our second installment of Friday Faces! These fabulous people can be found in the classrooms working ardently alongside our students. We are so glad to have them on Team SLOCA. Read on to hear their fun and honest answers to some (hopefully) insightful inquiries and be sure to do your best to help them feel welcome.
1. What is your ideal way to spend a weekend?
- Rose: At the beach with my family.
- Jennifer: Going to the park, a walk, or farmers market with my family, a mellow afternoon, and then cooking a yummy dinner and watching a movie at home.
- Michele: It depends on my mood. Either ocean side watching the kids play or discover treasures in the tide pools or visiting odd roadside attractions and unique places while road tripping.
- Arkady: Hiking in any beautiful location around the world with my family.
- Gil: Watching soccer early in the morning, listening to music while I cook breakfast for my fiancée and my son, and spending quality time with them. Also, having a great DJ gig on a Saturday night is always fun!
2. Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert (or somewhere in between)?
- Rose: Introvert
- Jennifer: I would say I am somewhere in between. I have always been really outgoing and social and love to talk, but I also like spending time alone thinking, reading, and being creative.
- Michele: I am a high functioning introvert.
- Arkady: 62.3% introvert and 37.7% extrovert – to be mathematically precise.
- Gil: I’m somewhere in between. I love meeting new people but I prefer smaller group outings to larger ones.
3. If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make?
- Rose: That you had to play board games at least once a week.
- Jennifer: To be kind and always remember your own self-worth!
- Michele: Be kind and make a least one person smile a day.
- Arkady: Don’t litter. Well, that is already a rule. I just wish we all followed it more often to keep our world beautiful.
- Gil: Everybody should say something kind to someone at least once a day. Kindness is a habit.
4. What skill would you like to master?
- Rose: Baking amazing desserts.
- Jennifer: I love cooking and really want to learn how to make French Macron cookies!
- Michele: Knitting or appropriate comedic timing.
- Arkady: I would like to remaster the skill of playing the saxophone. I played the instrument from 4th grade to 10th grade, then life got too busy. It would be great to pick it up again.
- Gil: Speaking fluent French.
Isn’t it so fun to hear everyone’s answers to these questions? How about you — is there a rule you would like everyone to follow? Ask your kids what rule they would make. What would happen if you enforced it in your family for a day, a week, or longer? Or maybe try to follow one of the rules suggested above. We could all benefit from some more kindness, board games, and cleaning up! Let us know how it goes!
