Monday Mix-ins: An Introduction

Happy Monday! We have arrived at the last week of summer break. Next week Down Home will be transitioning to our school year posts. Monday, September 21st, we will give you a more comprehensive rundown of what to expect for the year from Down Home, but today we wanted to introduce you to/reacquaint you with Monday Mix-ins.

For those who are new to Down Home, traditionally each Monday of the school year we feature a series titled, Monday Mix-ins. However, we are going to switch things up just a bit this year. We are changing the title to Mix-ins for Mondays and will be publishing these posts on Sunday mornings allowing you to have access to all the Mix-ins before the start of the week. Our hope is that this will give you time to preview them and decide which of them you may want to include in your homeschool week. Be sure to subscribe to Down Home in order to receive the Mix-ins for Mondays in your inbox each Sunday.

You may still be wondering, what is Monday Mix-ins anyway? Well, each week we offer to you a selection of enrichment resources and videos. You’ll find links to helpful websites, printouts of activities, and a handful of educational videos focusing on what is being taught in history that particular week for grade levels Primary thru Upper Middle School. When applicable, we include links and videos related to literature, science, art, and/or music. Each video and website shared is carefully considered and we will attempt to apply age-appropriate ratings when applicable, but parental discretion is always strongly advised. Also, if you have littles that are not yet on the history track, still check in each week as there are often coloring pages and other fun activities suitable for our Little Wonders.

Our first official Mix-ins for Monday will premiere Sunday, Sept. 27th, but we thought it would be fun to give you a preview of sorts. Check out these fun websites and videos.
