Hey, it’s Friday! And YOU did it!! Congratulations on finishing your first week at SLOCA!!! Maybe it was a bit of a blur but that’s okay! Give yourselves a few weeks…continue to engage in our community…and we promise, you will settle in your new schedules and roles as home educators very soon.
On the blog on Fridays, you can expect posts to include community events, student performances, family activities, along with some old favorites like Friday Flops and Friday Faces. We want to continue to foster ways to connect within our own families and within our SLOCA community.
So share with us! We want to know if your student has a performance or event they are a part of, outside of SLOCA. It is one of the ways we support our school community – by showing up and cheering them on or encouraging them when we see them on campus.
For our new families, you may be wondering what “Friday Flops” and “Friday Faces” are all about. We would love to explain:

Friday Flops was a series that we introduced last year as we dared greatly as a school community. We acknowledged the importance of failure and learned to embrace it, rise from it, build on it and be vulnerable about it. It is essentially the contradiction to our Wednesday Wonders. We believe that doing life authentically, together, here at SLOCA means we share not only in our feats but we celebrate the good, the bad and the beautiful.

Friday Faces was a series started several years back where we introduce our SLOCA staff so you can get to know your teachers and support personnel just a bit more. It’s an entertaining series and always a great way to put a face to the names we often see.
