Welcome to Down Home, San Luis Obispo Classical Academy’s blog! We are a classical school offering several options to make our education work for families with infants through high schoolers. Our signature hybrid program, which is part-time classroom and part-time home instruction, provides an engaging education for preschool through middle school (with full time options available). We also have a university model high school. This blog is meant to support and encourage on the home front because, in so many ways, the heart of what happens at SLO Classical Academy happens down home.

Semper discentes—always learning together.

ABCs of Summer: R

{photo 1 source, photo 2 source, photo 3 source, photo 4 source, photo 5 source}

1. Race track – Let the kids have fun creating one out of: paper towel and toiler paper tubes, a cardboard box, pool noodles, wood, masking tape on the floor, or chalk on the sidewalk.

2. Rocks – Skip them, stack them, paint them, collect them…

3. Read a story to someone younger or older.

4. “Raw” dinners – Don’t want to turn the oven on or slave over a hot stove? Try one of these No-Cook dinners for summer.

5. R&R – This is what summer is for after all! Make time for all the Rs you need: rest, relaxation, recuperation, rejuvenation, relief, respite, renewal, restoration… (you get the idea).

What else starts with R? We know you've got an idea or two… share in the comments!
