Greetings, are you feeling lucky today? We’re announcing another Down Home Drawing, this time with an opportunity for you to win a coffee card from the school store! Winter is coming and a toasty cup of pourover coffee sure hits the spot on a cold morning when you’re dropping off the kids. You can even treat a friend (several, actually) and enjoy some much needed grown-up conversation in The Den! Or it would make a fantastic holiday gift…
We want to know if you supplement learning over winter (or summer) break – what you have your kids do, and any websites or resources that you use. Do your kids read daily and do math facts once in a while? Do you use enrichment materials, take field trips, check out extra fun educational books from the library, or sign your kids up for classes in other areas of interest?
Or maybe that isn’t resonating with you, because you really really take a break. You can still enter! Tell us HOW you do that – how do you rest and recharge over breaks, to be ready for a new season of SLOCA life?
Many of us crave ideas to keep kids happily engaged over prolonged school breaks, while truly giving them (and ourselves) some rest from the normal routines. We want to encourage the love of learning, and we don’t want them to lose newly acquired skills, but we don’t necessarily want to “assign school” over the break either. Do you have any great ideas or resources to share?
Let’s do life together in this way – by sharing what works for us and encouraging others with fresh ideas. We will post the results at the beginning of our winter break!

We will gather the responses and share them (anonymously) in a future blog post, so you’ll get to see the suggestions. By participating, you will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a coffee card (good for 10 cups of delightful pourover coffee, a $20 value) from the SLOCA store! This drawing is open to all current SLOCA parents, and ends Friday, December 2, 2016 at 11:59 pm. Name and email must be included in the form (link above) to be entered into the drawing. The winner will be chosen randomly from the survey responses and will be announced the week of December 12, 2016.
