A very happy Friday to you! There are several opportunities to connect with others this weekend – we hope you’ll be joining in on one of our parent book clubs tonight or tomorrow night, and/or our allergy-friendly Dinner Party with a Purpose tomorrow evening!
Here are a few family-time ideas you might enjoy this weekend, weather permitting:
- Unhuggables! – January 16, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm at the SLO Library. This Zoo-to-You program features slimy, pokey and scaly animals – the misunderstood members of the animal kingdom.
- Family Movie at the Los Osos Library – January 16, 2-3:30 pm. Free family movie every 3rd Saturday of the month. Call the library at (805) 528-1862 for the movie title, but always rated G/PG.
- Winter Bird Festival in Morro Bay – January 15-18. Every Martin Luther King weekend over 450 (over 600 in 2014!) birders visit Morro Bay to see, photograph, and learn more about birds. Over 200 species are usually sighted during the Festival weekend — 204 species in 2014. Visit the Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival website for more information.
- Elephant Seal Exploratory Tours – January 16th, 9:30-11:30 am, meeting at Cavalier Plaza, 250 San Simeon Ave., San Simeon. Doors open for coffee at 9:30am. The Exploratory presentation begins at 10am and lasts about 90 minutes. The Exploratory will feature a presentation on northern elephant seals, followed by a question and answer period with a panel of Friends of the Elephant Seal’s most experienced guides.
Also, here’s one last call to all 7th-12th grade students in SLO county (invite your friends!) to submit your entries for Hanging Lantern Review’s 2016 magazine. Categories include poetry, literary fiction, and non-fiction/essay, as well as photography and art. The deadline is one week away – January 22. It’s not too late! Click here for details.
School WILL be in session on Monday and Tuesday, so we will see you then! But be sure to get our Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday Resources packet and explore the many resources our team has put together for you! The link was in the latest weekly update.
