This month, the character trait we will be highlighting is Citizenship:
Recognizing one's place in the greater communities (family, school, local and country) through active service and respectful devotion to the community's members, values and standards.
Catch phrase: Everyone counts.
Our Heroic Quest downtown cleanup was a super way to get into the spirit of citizenship within our local community. To continue instilling this character trait, we can start with our small school community. Let’s show our SLOCA citizenship this month! Whether it’s taking donations to Fred and Betty’s, volunteering on the playground (we need playground volunteers!), helping out with our upcoming History Day, or assisting in a myriad of other ways, we are a school that only works because of our devoted families who understand that Everyone Counts. Thank you, SLOCA Citizens!
A community is like a ship; everyone ought to be prepared to take the helm.
~ Henrik Ibsen, Norwegian playwright (1828-1906)
It is not always the same thing to be a good man and a good citizen.
