Originally from Brazil, DJ Mano Gil began his music career as a college radio station host in 1999 and soon expanded into spinning mostly 60s & 70s funk, soul, Afrobeat, Brazilian music at many venues in his hometown of Belo Horizonte. In 2006 he moved to Los Angeles where he became a reference in spinning Brazilian music but it was upon moving to the Central Coast that Gil dove into the diverse catalog of music he plays now. Two years ago he built the Boogie Bike Sound System: a modified tricycle equipped with turntables in the back and an independent speaker in the front. DJ Mano Gil will be spinning Old School Jazz, Soul, Funk, Boogaloo, Disco, Boogie, ’50s and ’60s rock, French pop among other rhythms in an all-vinyl set.
