Curriculum Development

Way back in 2006, before SLOCA even had a campus to meet on, Edie Overduin signed up to develop curricula, start up the library, and in general wear whatever hats the budding classical institution needed her to wear. An unrepentant philologist (word lover), Edie has from childhood harbored great affection for browsing dictionaries and encyclopedias. Since earning her B.S. in Nutritional Science from Cal Poly, she has found many creative ways to further her own education and that of her children. In particular, she loves SLOCA’s emphasis on learning together, especially Latin, logic, good literature, in-depth history, and critical thinking. And if you buy her a volume of the Oxford English Dictionary (she’s collecting all 20), she will love you forever. Throughout her day Edie enjoys reading (of course!), drinking coffee at home, and transporting all five of her children hither and yon.
